Kharosa Caves are located near to Kharosa village which is in the Latur district of Maharashtra, One has to travel on the Kharosa Leni road to reach the caves.

After travelling for around 25 KM from our last pit stop, Ausa fort, we finally saw a glimpse of the caves, high up in the hills. The sunlight flashing on them, added a golden shine to it. ![]() |

There is a narrow tar road that leads to the entrance of the fort. After parking the car there, we finally decided to walk to the caves.
History states that these caves were built around the 6th century.
We started exploring the caves, as we still had sunlight around us.

These were Buddhist Caves, there were 12 caves in all. Some of the caves had beautiful sculptures on them. Some of the sculptures have eroded over time. One of the caves also has a huge Shiv ling placed inside with sculptures around it. There is also a sculpture of Ganesh on the cave walls. Maybe some of these caves are converted into Hindu Caves.

One of the caves is converted into a temple, it has a small Shiv Ling placed in its premises. The temple premises only is painted white. There is a metal gate to access the Shiv Ling, which is under lock and key. It has beautiful sculptures around its walls.

After these exploring these caves, we sat near the caves to have some fresh air, as we have only been traveling so far.

We then decided to travel to Udgir, as we had to see Udgir fort there.
